The Great Grandfather of all Gallery Walls

This past weekend was my Great Grandpa's 87th birthday. All of my family met up to celebrate on Sunday. I wanted to show off his picture wall. He doesn't call it a gallery wall he jokes and says it is his hall of fame, but that is what it is. All of the photographs are of my family.

My Grandma is one of 6 children. All of her siblings have children so needless to say I have a rather large family. I am actually the oldest Great Grand Child. There are now 7 little girls under the age of 6 running around. It is so much fun.

I love gallery walls. I want to have one in my home. Probably paint the frames one color. Here are some more pictures of inspiration.

Office Inspiration

While looking for a house I have discovered that the majority of them I have found have 3 bedrooms. I think that this is a perfect number. It means that we of course have a bedroom and then Steve and I can both have our own offices. Ever since I saw the picture of Young House Love's office in their Second House Round up right before their move I have been enamored in planning an office ever since.

Just look at it isn't it bright and lovely. There are some elements that are not quite my style but I love the build-in looking desk and the placement of it. Such a bright happy room. I am guilty of having gotten almost all the way through college with doing my homework in my bed. I spread all of my papers across my bed and work that way. I even edit my pictures in bed. Well I do not think I will be able to do that when we have a place.

The thought of having a nice desk where I can have 2 screens set up, files organized, and massive amounts of shelving is exciting. I really want to have a daybed in my office too so it can be dual purpose for a guestroom too. Which I bet will turn into my best friend Alyssa's second home.

I have complied some inspiration for when (*hopefully) I have my own office space. I hope you can use the inspiration for your office.

 1.
Another great example of a built in desk. I love the basket an the plant. I think you always need a plant in a room. Whether it is a large plant like the one in the picture or a cute little terrarium.

2.
I really like how this room has two desk. If Steve and I have to share an office this could work. But he would plaster 70's paneling all over his side. blah.

That bay window is FABULOUS! I want to transfer this desk and window to where ever we go. And then take it with me to subsequent homes.

4.
I love how simple this daybed is. The duvet is great too.

If you have not noticed I lean towards classic furniture pieces and bright white wall. I do actually like color I promise. I am not opposed to colorful walls. I like how crisp walls make a great background for a gallery wall. Also by having classic neutral furniture I can play up bright colors with items that are more easily changed.

Do you have your own office?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Carry Me Back to Virginia

I have never been to Virginia. However, a part of my mother's family is from Rose Hill, Virginia. One of my dreams is to go on a road trip and be able to see and visit the family that I have never met from there. Inconceivable dream it is not.

The mountains are special to me. Spending a year at Young Harris College in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains gave me a taste of them and I do not think I will ever get wanting to run to the mountains out of my system.

Music that reminds me of the mountains has slowly integrated itself into my musical taste. I am beginning to love bluegrass and old school Nashville. I think there is a kind of stigma when someone says their significant other has changed them in a way but Steve has introduced me to a lot of different artists and music that I would have never known about. But even without his influence I have liked bluegrass. I remember watching O Brother, Where Art Thou? when I was little and loving the music. My parents would play me a CD of Celtic Lullabies when I was little which is not so far away from bluegrass.

What I am trying to get to is that Steve introduced me to Old Crow Medicine Show. I touched on them in my post Who Did It Bettter? Music Edition. One of my favorite memories is of Steve and I singing Wagon Wheel one day at Young Harris while it was snowing outside.

There is something about Old Crow Medicine Show's music that just resonates with me. We were able to see them at the Grand Ole Opry this summer. They played Wagon Wheel and it made me tear up. I was so happy they played it. The concert was a wonderful experience. Their music makes me feel like I am in the mountains. Their CD Carry Me Back is wonderful. Some of my favorite songs are Ain't It Enough, Country Gal, and Half Mile Down.

I highly suggest giving their music a listen.

Birchbox Haul!

Haul time. I finally used my 600 Birchbox points. Yep that is right 600! Which means I had $60 to spend on any of their products. I am an old miser with my money so I have been holding on to these points for a long time. It was so hard to decide on what to buy. You would think it would be easier because the products in a way are free. Nope, not easier at all. It means that I have to go through every single item on their website to make sure I have not missed anything and get every free item possible.

Here are the items that I purchased with my points and $8.00. I received free shipping because the order was over $50. Plus I received samples of June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Enzyme Polish and Stila stay all day 10-in-1 hd beauty balm. Also there is a coupon code that allows you to get cute post cards that are city themed. Then I wanted the Tibi Empire Pouch so I bought my eyeliner which put me over $60 but I think it is worth it!

If you do not know about Birchbox it is a $10 a month beauty, skincare, lifestyle sample box. I have had it for a little over a year now and I love it. A great thing about Birchbox is that you can earn points for every item you receive and then review. When you have reviewed 10 items you get $10 in their store. I love the points program. If you are a Birchbox subscriber and do not do your reviews put everything down and do your reviews! You are losing out on getting full sized products discounted or possibly free!

Do you have a subscription service you use like Birchbox? I really want to try the Bourbon & Boots box.

My Vintage Camera Collection

I love film camera. There is something that is just different with a film photograph. I love my digital camera but the nostalgia of film get me every time. Some of my cameras I just use as decor and others I actually use. The majority of them I have bought at yard sales or markets. My Brownie Bullet was a gift from my best friend Alyssa for Christmas last year.

Kodak Brownie Bullet 1957-1964 & Kodak Brownie Hawkeye 1950-1961

I love the style of the Hawkeye. Great looking camera. The vintage Kodaks are some of my favorites.

The Olympus OM-10 made in 1979, is the film camera that I use most. The quality of this camera is great. The weight of it is so different from a modern day camera. Olympus actually has a new model called the OM- D E-M5 that is designed based on the OM-10.

Then there is this odd ball. It is a Zenit -E and I actually found it at Steve's Uncles house and they let me have it. Zenit is a Russian brand and this model was made 1967 through 1969.

I also have picked up a couple of Polariod cameras. The black one is a Polaroid One-Step 600 camera and Polaroid Amiogo 620. I actually have a couple of old packets of Polaroid Instant film. They are outdated of course so the film comes out all wonky but it looks cool to me. After I run out I am going to buy some of the Impossible Project film.

If you haven't checked out my photography blog take a look at Focusing Daily and my website is ev-photography.co.

Do you ever shoot film? Or do you collect old cameras?
