Cute Computer Background

School starts back this month and the background of your computer is probably not your first thought. However, when I saw the background for August that Going Home to Roost has posted I knew I had to share. She shares a computer and Iphone background every month and offers image downloads in different sizes. I have been using them since this spring. They are really cute and have a calendar built into them. I hope you love them! Now when someone is sitting behind you in class and you actually close Pinterest  you will have a cute background.

On a side note my little brother starts highschool tomorrow at my old school. He is making me feel old.

Weekend Shopping Haul

This weekend was full to the brim. I did not have a chance to slow down. It is my fault though. I do not usually have Friday and Saturday off. Friday was spent adventuring with Steve again. I found some more vintage goodies. On Saturday I spent a few hours walking around the new outlet mall near my house that opened a few weeks ago. The new mall is referred to as "The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta" but, they are really located in Woodstock, Ga. Which means that they are literally 10 minutes up I-575 from where I go to school. Trouble. I see a lot of off days just walking around the mall for deals. Then when Christmas presents start being bought it will be game on. It is still crazy at the outlet because it is still new. My family arrived around 10:30 a.m. and pulled right off the interstate and were able to park right away. However, when we left the traffic had backed up for a exit on the interstate. Before we had left I found quite a few things to share with you!

My first purchase of the day were my Vans. I had a pair of slip on plaid Vans that I wore to death in high school. When I saw that there was a Vans outlet I was really excited. There was a buy one get one half off deal so Patrick got a pair too. They ended up being around $24.99 with the discounts. I love the bright color! I expect these will be the first of a few pairs of Vans I end up with.
I have never tried Crabtree & Evelyn, but based on Evelyn being in the name I knew I was going to like it. Evelyn has been one of my favorite names for a long time. I bought three of the .9 oz hand creams Rosewater, Avocado, Olive & Basil, and Gardeners. They are the perfect size for a purse. The Rosewater was for my mom and the Gardeners is for Steve's mom. The Avocado, Olive & Basil smells really good and is what I will be carrying around.

My Fossil wallet! I have been carrying a small purse lately and the face that my huge wallet takes up at least half of the purse has been driving me nuts. Enter this little guy. (similar) It is so small yet it fits the necessities.

The moment I heard there is a J. Crew at the outlet I was so excited. I grabbed a sweater and a long sleeve shirt. The collared shirts by J. Crew and Madewell always catch my eye so I am starting my collection now. The sweater is wonderful and perfectly slouchy.

I can not wait to go back! Hopefully I will keep finding great items.

Wednesday Wishlist

1. Victorian Garden Bridesmaid Necklace, , I think these necklaces are adorable! These are sold as a bridesmaids set but there are some similar ones sold individually.
2. Polaroid Land Camera 430 Camera, I really want a Polaroid Land Camera. Fuji still makes the 4:3 film. It would be a lot of fun to mess around with. I really like this one it is a fully restored one so you know it will work.
3. Belt, H&M, So simple and classic. I think that this would work with a lot of different pieces.
4.  BVLGARI Omnia Crystalline, BVLGARI, I received this as a sample in a Birchbox last year. I love it. I used that tiny sample all up. I have been lusting after this perfume since then. It is a wonderful "grown up" perfume. Not childish at all. It is a warm and sexy scent.
5. Ollie Pup Pillow, Anthropologie, Such a cute little Frenchie on the pillow. I wish I could take Ollie home. I want a puppy but I need to wait a while before I can have my own but we do have 2 family dogs so I get to snuggle with them.
6. Deja Dot Dress, Anthropologie, I love the neckline of this dress. It is so cute and would be great if you want to show off your shoulders.
7. Leather Oxfords, J.Crew, Again another classic that I love. A new J. Crew outlet just opened not to far from where I live and I am super excited. I can not wait to go and find some deals.

What items are you wishing for?

Festival and Antique finds

In my last post I shared some of the photos from my weekend. Now, I want to share my special finds. We went to the Homespun Festival that happens in Rockmart, Ga every year. I have family from there and we used to hold our family reunions in the same park. I remember being a little girl and playing in the large creek that runs through the park. I had to go climb in and get my feet wet.

I have a hard time choosing items when I go to festivals. The problem is that I always want to see everything before I choose. Causing who I am with to walk back through the vendors after walking through once so I can buy what I want. The two items that I picked up were a mug by Payne Pottery and a copper bracelet. I love the color of the glaze on the mug. Gorgeous. My parents always buy pottery at festivals and I thought I would finally start my own collection. I would love more of the Payne pieces. They are local and I love supporting local business. I have wanted one of the colanders since I saw their booth last year. The copper bracelet is really nice and simple. I do not usually wear bracelets but I think I will wear this a lot.

Then my Grandparents took me to an Antique Mall in Rome, Ga called Smart Shop Antique Mall and Flea Market. It has a little bit of a split personality via the name. Seriously though, It is like the Great Grand Daddy to all antique malls. The building is an old chenille factory. There are so many levels you almost can not remember how to get to the front door. Warning this place is literally an old factory so there are old hardwoods that are surprisingly sturdy when you see what is on them and no air conditioning. But I spent almost 3 hours and did not see the entire place. You need an entire day to go through this place.

I love Pyrex. However, apparently everyone else does too. There were a lot of full sets for sale that were expensive. After walking around and searching for that one not overpriced piece I found a Butterfly Gold Cinderella mixing bowl for $8. Then I found a cute vintage hanky. I love the idea of framing some of the vintage hankys and adding them to a gallery wall.

Then I found my chair! I love the shape of the chair. I desperately want to recover it with possibly cream linen. The floral is not my thing. Also I would like to strip the stain off and stain it a really dark brown. My Granny has been helping me look for one forever. The chair ended up being only $25. I can not wait until I have a chance to recover it.

What goodies have you found lately?

My Weekend Instagram Style

This weekend was a whirl wind of fun! I had Friday and Saturday off. It was wonderful to have two days in a row to do whatever I wanted. I was able to spend a lot of time with my family. My Aunt that lives in New York was able to come down and I got to see my cousins. Then Saturday I was able to spend time with my granny and grandpa. I inherited my love of all things vintage from them. A lot of the items I have remind me of them. We went to the Rockmart, Ga, Homespun Festival. I was able to find quite a few things from the festival and a awesome antique mall, more about that later.

I used instagram, VSCOcam, and A Beautiful Mess's app for these pictures. I am obsessed with the A Beautiful Mess app. I love adding boarders to my pictures. My instagram name is Emilyvannah.

I hope you had a great weekend!! I am ready to start this weekend.

The Great Grandfather of all Gallery Walls

This past weekend was my Great Grandpa's 87th birthday. All of my family met up to celebrate on Sunday. I wanted to show off his picture wall. He doesn't call it a gallery wall he jokes and says it is his hall of fame, but that is what it is. All of the photographs are of my family.

My Grandma is one of 6 children. All of her siblings have children so needless to say I have a rather large family. I am actually the oldest Great Grand Child. There are now 7 little girls under the age of 6 running around. It is so much fun.

I love gallery walls. I want to have one in my home. Probably paint the frames one color. Here are some more pictures of inspiration.

Office Inspiration

While looking for a house I have discovered that the majority of them I have found have 3 bedrooms. I think that this is a perfect number. It means that we of course have a bedroom and then Steve and I can both have our own offices. Ever since I saw the picture of Young House Love's office in their Second House Round up right before their move I have been enamored in planning an office ever since.

Just look at it isn't it bright and lovely. There are some elements that are not quite my style but I love the build-in looking desk and the placement of it. Such a bright happy room. I am guilty of having gotten almost all the way through college with doing my homework in my bed. I spread all of my papers across my bed and work that way. I even edit my pictures in bed. Well I do not think I will be able to do that when we have a place.

The thought of having a nice desk where I can have 2 screens set up, files organized, and massive amounts of shelving is exciting. I really want to have a daybed in my office too so it can be dual purpose for a guestroom too. Which I bet will turn into my best friend Alyssa's second home.

I have complied some inspiration for when (*hopefully) I have my own office space. I hope you can use the inspiration for your office.

 1.
Another great example of a built in desk. I love the basket an the plant. I think you always need a plant in a room. Whether it is a large plant like the one in the picture or a cute little terrarium.

2.
I really like how this room has two desk. If Steve and I have to share an office this could work. But he would plaster 70's paneling all over his side. blah.

That bay window is FABULOUS! I want to transfer this desk and window to where ever we go. And then take it with me to subsequent homes.

4.
I love how simple this daybed is. The duvet is great too.

If you have not noticed I lean towards classic furniture pieces and bright white wall. I do actually like color I promise. I am not opposed to colorful walls. I like how crisp walls make a great background for a gallery wall. Also by having classic neutral furniture I can play up bright colors with items that are more easily changed.

Do you have your own office?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Carry Me Back to Virginia

I have never been to Virginia. However, a part of my mother's family is from Rose Hill, Virginia. One of my dreams is to go on a road trip and be able to see and visit the family that I have never met from there. Inconceivable dream it is not.

The mountains are special to me. Spending a year at Young Harris College in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains gave me a taste of them and I do not think I will ever get wanting to run to the mountains out of my system.

Music that reminds me of the mountains has slowly integrated itself into my musical taste. I am beginning to love bluegrass and old school Nashville. I think there is a kind of stigma when someone says their significant other has changed them in a way but Steve has introduced me to a lot of different artists and music that I would have never known about. But even without his influence I have liked bluegrass. I remember watching O Brother, Where Art Thou? when I was little and loving the music. My parents would play me a CD of Celtic Lullabies when I was little which is not so far away from bluegrass.

What I am trying to get to is that Steve introduced me to Old Crow Medicine Show. I touched on them in my post Who Did It Bettter? Music Edition. One of my favorite memories is of Steve and I singing Wagon Wheel one day at Young Harris while it was snowing outside.

There is something about Old Crow Medicine Show's music that just resonates with me. We were able to see them at the Grand Ole Opry this summer. They played Wagon Wheel and it made me tear up. I was so happy they played it. The concert was a wonderful experience. Their music makes me feel like I am in the mountains. Their CD Carry Me Back is wonderful. Some of my favorite songs are Ain't It Enough, Country Gal, and Half Mile Down.

I highly suggest giving their music a listen.

Birchbox Haul!

Haul time. I finally used my 600 Birchbox points. Yep that is right 600! Which means I had $60 to spend on any of their products. I am an old miser with my money so I have been holding on to these points for a long time. It was so hard to decide on what to buy. You would think it would be easier because the products in a way are free. Nope, not easier at all. It means that I have to go through every single item on their website to make sure I have not missed anything and get every free item possible.

Here are the items that I purchased with my points and $8.00. I received free shipping because the order was over $50. Plus I received samples of June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Enzyme Polish and Stila stay all day 10-in-1 hd beauty balm. Also there is a coupon code that allows you to get cute post cards that are city themed. Then I wanted the Tibi Empire Pouch so I bought my eyeliner which put me over $60 but I think it is worth it!

If you do not know about Birchbox it is a $10 a month beauty, skincare, lifestyle sample box. I have had it for a little over a year now and I love it. A great thing about Birchbox is that you can earn points for every item you receive and then review. When you have reviewed 10 items you get $10 in their store. I love the points program. If you are a Birchbox subscriber and do not do your reviews put everything down and do your reviews! You are losing out on getting full sized products discounted or possibly free!

Do you have a subscription service you use like Birchbox? I really want to try the Bourbon & Boots box.

My Vintage Camera Collection

I love film camera. There is something that is just different with a film photograph. I love my digital camera but the nostalgia of film get me every time. Some of my cameras I just use as decor and others I actually use. The majority of them I have bought at yard sales or markets. My Brownie Bullet was a gift from my best friend Alyssa for Christmas last year.

Kodak Brownie Bullet 1957-1964 & Kodak Brownie Hawkeye 1950-1961

I love the style of the Hawkeye. Great looking camera. The vintage Kodaks are some of my favorites.

The Olympus OM-10 made in 1979, is the film camera that I use most. The quality of this camera is great. The weight of it is so different from a modern day camera. Olympus actually has a new model called the OM- D E-M5 that is designed based on the OM-10.

Then there is this odd ball. It is a Zenit -E and I actually found it at Steve's Uncles house and they let me have it. Zenit is a Russian brand and this model was made 1967 through 1969.

I also have picked up a couple of Polariod cameras. The black one is a Polaroid One-Step 600 camera and Polaroid Amiogo 620. I actually have a couple of old packets of Polaroid Instant film. They are outdated of course so the film comes out all wonky but it looks cool to me. After I run out I am going to buy some of the Impossible Project film.

If you haven't checked out my photography blog take a look at Focusing Daily and my website is ev-photography.co.

Do you ever shoot film? Or do you collect old cameras?
