1st Day + mini food review

Today was my 1st day of my senior year of college! I am pretty excited! It is the beginning of the "Lasts." Like this spring break will be my last. I am pretty excited. The teachers that I met today seemed pretty awesome. So because it was the first day of class I decided that I would reward myself with a trip to Target. I had been wanting to especially after seeing Lark & Lola's post about the $1-$3 section. I still haven't made it to Michaels but I definitely want too!

Here are a few things in the $1 - $3 section that I found.

I got two rolls of the bakers twine. I could not resist its red and white cuteness. Then I picked me up a coupon separator. I am going to try and do more couponing. And my coupons always end up crumbled in my purse so this solves that problem.

Then I found this shelf. I have been lusting over the jar candles that I have found on Etsy so when I saw those I was so excited. But I decided that I did not need one of them. However, I turned the corner and found this little guy on a shelf. I definitely needed it.

On the way home I stopped at the Briar Patch and picked up some lunch. I thought I would do a little mini review! The Briar Patch is a BBQ restaurant that is located in Dallas, Georgia. It has been here for a long time. Not to say that my mom is old by any means, but she used to go there when she was a teenager. A little bit of history is that the original Briar Patch burned down. I remember going to the original Briar Patch when I was little. I think it burned down when I was around 8 years old. (I could be wrong, just an approximation) There was a period of time afterwards that something just wasn't right with the BBQ. It wasn't as good. I do not know if it was because someone leaving or what. What I do know now is that it is YUMMY. It is what I could consider the best BBQ around. I love the sauce and the meat is not fatty. That drives me nuts getting a huge chunk of fat and I am a vinegary sauce lover. The regular BBQ sandwich is great too! The prices can be a little bit much for BBQ, but they do offer coupons if you sign up on their website for emails.

I wanted to share what I had for lunch today. It is probably the wrong time to show this because I know we are all supposed to be trying to lose weight right now. This is definitely not healthy. It is called Hickory Fries. And it is literally hand cut fries with shredded cheese and BBQ meat on top. I get mine with the Blue Cheese dressing. I am not a fan of Blue Cheese dressing normally but here is the only place that I get it. Also I got a Sweet Tea (they have good tea too).

I hope you like the little review! And if you are starting back at college this week good luck!

Beauty Favorites of 2012

Beauty Favorites of 2012!
I thought I would share my favorites from the past year!

1. Face product
My favorite face product has to be my Revlon Colorstay whipped cream foundation. I think I have honestly bought 3 bottle of this just in the past couple of months since it has been out.

2. Cheek product
Cheek product has to be the Hot Mama blush by The Balm. I love this one. I think my mom really likes it too. She got a mini sample of it in her last Birchbox.
These are the limited edition colors that I got earlier this year.
3. Eye product
Out of the eye products that I bought this year I think the Maybelline Color Tattoo's are great!!!! I actually just got two more today. (The Metal line: Barely Branded and Inked in Pink) I already have Barely beige and Gold Shimmer.

4. Lip Product
Hmmmmmm...... My favorite lip product is oddly enough a chap stick that I got in the month of December. It is the Chap Stick Limited Edition Candy Cane. I literally have like 5 of these. I had to buy three more to stash away in case it is never released again. Seriously, I have a thing for minty chap sticks and I adore the original Burt's Bee's but this stuff BLOWS that out of the water for like half the price. And it really does taste like a candy cane. So if your at Walmart checking out and see the little display that is hung by the register I definitely suggest trying this out.

5. Skincare Product
This was the year of Lush discovery. I am in LOVE with the Ocean Salt scrub. I know it is probably not meant to be used every day or even every other day because it is a pretty heavy duty scrub but, my skin loves this stuff. I ran out and finally got more this week. And the really nice guy from Perimeter Mall convinced me to get the large container of it. I never want to run out again. Other than my favorite cleanser Purity by Philosophy (which I have used for years or it would be included) it is an all time favorite.

6. Nail Polish
Camera by Essie is my favorite for 2012. I searched EVERYWHERE for this polish. It was apart of the "lights, camera, action" set. I was so sad when I could not find it. Months later, I was in ulta and looked at a bottom shelf and there were like 20 of them just chilling out on the shelf. I kind of jumped up and down a little.

7. Hair product
My favorite hair product is the Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt spray. My hair is pretty straight. I have to really try to get it to do anything. I love braiding my hair and then spraying this on my wavy hair to give it some texture.

8. Body product/Perfume
My favorite body product is my Coco Mademoiselle Body Lotion. I actually think that the scent stays around longer than it would with the perfume. I love the way it smells. I would like the perfume though. The bottle is really classic and I just love the way it smells so you can never have enough.

If you have any great products you discovered in 2012 I would love to have some new products to try in 2013! Also if any of these are your favorites too please let me know!!!

Stationary Haul

Hey guys! I am not sure if this should be considered a haul but I went into Marshall's today and picked up a couple of things.

I got a really nice leather 2013 Planner from Gallery Leather. I saw this a couple of weeks ago and I wanted it but it was before Christmas so I didn't want to buy it for myself. Well waiting worked! Because the planner was on clearance for $8 which I thought was a pretty good deal. You can find a fairly similar one here.

Then I found these packs of really cute Thank You cards. I like to pick up random packs because I send them out when I packaged photographs I like to include a Thank you card saying thanks for letting me be your photographer. When I saw these I loved them and they were only $2.99 a pack. They are 8 cards + envelopes inside. I love the twine wrapped around the packages. The box says mintygreen and when I googled these I could not find the exact cards. I suggest if you like these run out and get some from your local Marshalls! Love the gold and the prints are some of my favorites. I love the sophisticated feel.

Hope your finding great things too! Sorry for the iphone pictures. I have been working a ton and I realize that I do not post as often if I wait to use my big camera which means editing.

Calling all Jadeite lovers!

I thought that I would share two of my Christmas presents! My Grandmother found me this beautiful Jadeite batter bowl. It is gorgeous!!!

Then my Aunt found me this swirl mixing bowl. I did not write down the actual size of the bowl but it is a larger one. I love them! I can not wait till I have a proper place to display all of my vintage dishware.

Home Ideas

When I started thinking about this year I realized that this is probably the year that I will have my own place. So now it is time for me to daydream about things that I would love in my house. I found this awesome shop on Etsy called Daily Memorandum and I thought I would share a few things that I really liked from it.

Antique Cafe Chair, European Bentwood Bistro

Industrial Rolling Cart, Steel Machinist Utility Cart

I saw a post from A Beautiful Mess about how Elsie redid a metal cart into a Cocktail Cart. I think this one would be perfect for that! You can find the post from her here.

Antique Pillar Library Storage Cabinet with Decorative Pulls

Those were my favorites from Daily Memorandum. I think I am going to do more of these posts about house ideas. Let me know what you like from the shop.

Starting a New Year!

Hey! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a great New Years Eve!

I am a believer in the old wives tale that whatever you do on New Years Day reflects what you will be doing for the next year. That means I did not clean today, I had that day off (thankfully), and I spent it with Steve. I do hope that the weather today is not a reflection on the weather for the rest of the year though. It was nasty weather in Georgia. It rained the entire day.

We did not let the weather deter our New Years outing. Steve and I are wanders. I am not sure where he gets it from but I definitely get it from my Grandparents. I spent weekends growing up with them driving all over the North Georgia mountains going to flea markets, garage sales, and antique stores.

So we decided that even though the weather was bad we were going to drive around where ever we want to. Go on a little mini road trip adventure. We ended up heading to North Georgia near Blue Ridge to the Toccoa River. I spent a lot of time in North Georgia when I went to Young Harris College, but I have never been to that rive. Also we are thinking about going canoe camping soon so checking it out sounded good. Well at first we were going to go to the swinging bridge and soon realized that since we would have to hike in this weather it would not work. After deciding that I pulled out my phone and just started looking for places where the road crosses the river.

We then ended up going down a long dirt road. There were gorgeous houses off that road. It was beautiful despite the rain. And at the end of the road we found this:

Wow! The new Maps app on the Iphone totally thought that this was still a road. Don't worry it was signed dead end really well. So we got out and I took a few pictures. I bet this is gorgeous on a none rainy day.
Then we realized that there were some no trespassing signs around and decided to leave.... I am so glad we found this neat bridge. It was a fun discovery.

After that we decided to head back home BUT I convinced Steve to stop at an antique mall that I had always wanted to stop in at. I did no purchase anything but for all of the Pyrex lovers out there I found a few things that I wanted to show.
I found this little casserole (Is that right?) I loved the lid. I am not sure what this pattern is called. The bottom dish was a similar color to the lighter leaf on the lid. It was $12. I think I probably should have bought it.

Then there was this set. I think the yellow is adorable. However, the booth owner wanted a lot of money for it.

I had a great day and I think that this was a great way to start off the new year. Also I did this post today so I am going to try to post more often!
