September Birchbox!!!

 Hey!!! I have not shown what I have gotten in my Birchbox for a while, but I thought I'd do one for September. The past couple of months have been alright, but nothing really to write about. I really like this box and thought I'd share.

 This is how the box looked when I opened it. I love the teal-ish blue paper!!!

 When I moved the info card and opened the paper I could see the "Fall look book" and a couple of my samples! =]]

 Underneath the book was my sample of Boscia Oil Free Nightly Hydration and 2 packets of the Mighty Leaf Tea (Green tea and Citrus Chamomile).

 Then there was this in the bottom of the box!!!! A coupon for Madewell! I have not bought anything from Madewell before. I have went in one of their stores at the mall and it was amazing!!!!! Well the coupon is a $25 dollars off of $75 purchase!!!!!! So I might be buying something soon. =]

 This is what was inside of the little paper packet. A sample of the Kate Spade Twirl perfume, a Lace Pattern twist band, Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, then a Color Club Nail Polish in Insta-This.

I love the blue color! 

I like getting nail polish this color. I also like getting the twistbands! I love those things. I think they are ridiculously overpriced though. I did find some at H&M that are similar and only $4 for 5. The Matte Moisture Tint seems really cool but it is a wee bit expensive. Also the perfume smells pretty good. It does not bother me that there was a perfume because there were 6 samples.


What did you get in your Birchbox? Or do you like subscription services?

My friend Alyssa and I were talking last night and I think that Lush should do a subscription service. I think it would be highly successful and they could try out new products.

P1800 Finally Moved!

I am so excited. We finally moved the Volvo P1800 into the garage at Steve's house. I am so glad that I do not have to worry about it sitting outside anymore. Steve said that hopefully by this weekend he will have cranked the engine. It will be a while before we are driving it around. A quick estimate would be around Christmas hopefully!!!! I also wanted to correct what I said in my last post about how much it actually cost. Steve only paid $500 dollars for the car. Which is great because we will have to put a lot of money in to it.

Paulding Meadows arts and crafts festival

Hey guys! This weekend was the arts and crafts festival for where I live. I love Paulding Meadows it is always so much fun to see all of the things people are selling. And it is kind of like a big reunion. Especially for my parents since they graduated from high school around here too. I thought I would share the few things I bought.

 

Here are the things that I bought. A pair of earrings and two hair clips from a really sweet lady. You can find her store online here. I really liked the set up that she had. Really cute and vintage. The earrings were $10 and the hair bows were $2.50 each. She also had a great selection of hand made necklaces. I really like buying things from the people who make them instead of stores. 

We had a conversation about this the other day before an art history class. One of the guys in my class is a Art Major with a concentration in Pottery. There is so much work put into the pieces that potters make. I always try to pick up a piece from an art festival. However, this time I sadly did not. But I talked to one of the venders and she is going to start teaching pottery classes, and possibly a wheel class! I loved pottery in High School and I really wish that I could take it in college, sadly I am not an art major so they will not let me in. I thought that it was cool that her name is Emily also and she just graduated from Kennesaw State University too. Supporting Graduates! Yay!

Also another one of my favorite things is KETTLE CORN! I'm obsessed, this is the only time during the year that I get to have it. This family has been selling fresh kettle corn at the festival since I could remember. They wear pioneer dress while they do it. Meaning the men have outfits on like the picture above and the women have on bonnets and long dresses with long sleeves. I always feel really bad when it is super hot outside. Yesterday the temperature was amazing, nice and cool. It is really neat watching them pop the corn then mix it all together with sugar and salt. YUM. I wish I had taken a picture of the bag that they give you but it is a large bag.

The Dry Spell is Over! Thrifty Finds.

I am really lucky to have a Goodwill on my way home from class. The bad thing is that I get out of class at 11 am on Tuesday/Thursday and I do not head to work until a couple hours later so I stop in a lot. I have went to Goodwill at least once a week since school started. And I have not been able to find anything!!!! It has been driving me nuts. I have not found a any vintage glass, furniture, or clothes. That is until yesterday and today!!!!!

Here are my finds!

 The first thing is the men's shirt that I bought. A year or so ago we went to Little 5 Points in downtown Atlanta and I found the most comfortable button up. And it turns out that it was a well worn men's shirt from the 60's or 70's. So since then I have been looking for cute men's shirts. I really liked this one it is light blue with yellow, lavender, and slightly darker blue stripes. I am trying to decide whether or not I will keep this one or give it to Steve.

 Then today I found this vintage pillow case. I am not sure if I am going to use it for a DIY or keep it for an actual pillow case.

The first thing that I do when I head to a thrift store is head straight for the glassware section. And lately I have been leaving empty handed. But I got there and this little guy was sitting inside of the larger bowl. I almost ran when I saw them. I am not a huge fan of the light brown color but I love the pattern. Honestly, I do not think that you can have too many of these bowls. I have a few that are the size smaller than this one and they are great for when you want a big bowl of cereal.

This bowl is such a great size! It is not a pretty pink or turquoise but I think I will be more inclined to use it because it is not one of my favorite patterns.

 I am so glad the Pyrex dry spell is over. Both bowls are in really great condition! I do not collect these patterns but I would love to have a complete set. I would totally love to give my friends a set of vintage Pyrex for Christmas.

Finally the Homer Laughlin tea cups. I love the turquoise detail on the top of these. The cups are nice and heavy, they are substantial. I understand why these are restaurant ware. I bought these thinking that I would make my tea cup candles. However, when I realized that they are restaurant ware I decided that I will put them in my Hope Chest and find other tea cups to make into candles.

Our Volvo 1968 P1800 Project

I wanted to introduce y'all to my boyfriend, Steve and I's project car. My boyfriend is extremely good with cars. He has been working on them since he was a little boy. I am a lover of old cars, but I am not  good at all with cars. I honestly have never even changed the oil in my car, well my car burns oil quickly so I do not really see the point really. Despite that point I am not good with mechanics. Steve is going to college to be a mechanical engineer, right up his alley. 

 He loves Volvo. It is his brand, there is even a Volvo belt buckle in his closet that comes our occasionally. We have even talked about moving to Sweden because he would love to work for Volvo. Last summer Steve went a little craigslist crazy. I swear I will find a way to block that infernal site some how. lol.

He found an ad on craigslist for a 1968 Volvo P1800. I can not remember the exact number but it was I believe around $2,500. We went to go check it out and despite the poor condition it is wonderful. I live in GA and it is extremely hard to find old Volvo's. I usually give Steve some trouble for his craigslist finds, but I think that this is going to be the most fabulous car ever. We give all of our cars nicknames. Like Steve has a Military Chevy Truck that we call Bart and my Sebring is called wale-shark. We argued a little on what to call the P1800 but he finally caved and has allowed me to call it Catfish.

Catfish had been left at a mechanic/paint shop for 5 years. The previous owner had sanded it down and prepped it for paint. However, the man passed away. The shop had gotten in contact with the family and they did not want it. So it sat there for years. Finally they decided to put it up on craigslist. When we arrived the shop owner told us that they were looking for someone that would take the whole car away. People had contacted him wanting the Weber Carburetor's off of it and some other parts but not the whole thing. So we were in luck! The guys that worked there even joked about using it as a burn barrel! What a waste that would have been. I'm glad we rescued it! 

It took a whole day to get it on to the trailer. The tires had dry rotted from sitting outside for years. So it took a lot of jerking and cringing on my part to get it on to the trailer. Sadly when we got the car Steve was living at the Fraternity house on campus and so it had to go to Steve's Fathers house. Where it has been sitting outside once again for about a year. Now he lives at a house with a few friends and it has a garage. There have already been multiple cars going in and out of the garage that belong to his room mates. FINALLY there is an empty bay. And I have claimed it. 

Hopefully, we will be able to move it into the garage soon! I am going to give updates on our progress though out the project. While Steve is in charge of mechanics, I am in charge of interior and appearance. I would really love for the car to be at least semi finished by The Mitty. The Mitty is a road racing event held at Road Atlanta for Classic Cars. It is like a car show on steroids!

I hope y'all will be interested in seeing the process from our poor rusted baby to an amazing car. I know that this is a departure from clothes and make up, but I hope y'all like it!
